Forth Valley engineering are the European leading manufacturer of specialised butt weld fittings and pipes which they forge, heat treat and machine. 

Most of the machining can be handled by the skilled CNC programmers on the shop floor but every now and then they will come across a project that is either too complex or time consuming for the guys on the floor.

The difficulty in this instance was finish machining this forged piece, the guys on the floor wanted to CNC turn as much as possible and asked  us to provide a program to surface machine the remainder of the part with specific tipped cutters.

We were able to produce a finished 3d model from Forth Valley drawings in Solidworks 

We were then able to accurately reproduce the required form cutting tool in Powermill.

We could then use the awesome power of Delcam’s Powermill to produce the code with a huge choice of different machining strategies .
