Macaw engineering came to us with a requirement for the design and manufacture of a field sampling tool which would be used to shave a thin strip of material for analysis.
The brief differed from a standard block plane as it was crucial that a constant depth of cut was maintained easily each time with minimal user set-up and used standard ‘Stanley’ blades.
Macaw were actively involved at every stage of the design process, we supplied various conceptual ideas to get the ball rolling and once we identified a style we were able to flesh out the design in CAD and produce a prototype on our CNC.
Once we had a design everyone was happy with we were able to use our links with specialist manufacturing facilities to produce the first off and we continue to provide support for tooling and manufacture of this project.
“Redfox proved to be adept at interpreting an even vague design brief and creating a concept that is both practical from a production point of view (vital for me as manufacturer) and attractive (key, obviously, for my customer).”
